Free Walking Tour Malta
Free walking tour: Concept
There is no official definition of free tour, but it could be defined as a pay-what-you-feel tour based on tips that are paid to the local guide. This type of tour can last between 1-4 hours (some last even more) although usually, it is two hours. You can choose to take a guided tour of the essential places in a city, visiting the most emblematic buildings, monuments, parks and streets through the center or historical center, although they are not the only ones. There are also other types of more specific routes that focus on a particular neighborhood or on a specific theme that is characteristic of that city.
The ultimate guide to free walking tours around Malta
There’s so much more to the Maltese experience than just beaches and coastlines, so why not try a walking tour or two during your next trip to Malta?
You’ve probably read about the Knights of Malta in history books, or come across a few photos of Malta’s famous beaches, but only when you’ve stepped foot onto the island will you realize how special Malta really is.
With countless beaches (some of which are considered to be the best in Europe!), and 300 days of sunshine each year, Malta is the perfect option for travelers looking for a little slice of paradise.
But Malta isn’t just the ultimate destination for beach lovers. The country also has the greatest density of historic sites in the world: From castles, churches and cathedrals, to prehistoric temples, medieval walls and so much more.
Trying to understand a country’s history can end up in a mess of dates, names and events which are easily forgotten. That is why we will not put you through all that pain during this tour. We do not believe in repetitive and boring details, instead we shall learn about the scandals, murders, mystery and triumph that have shaped this city “built by gentlemen for gentlemen”.
– Who were the Knights Hospitallers?
– How, When and Why did the Knights come to Malta?
– How did they adapt to life on a tiny island with hardly any water, agriculture or infrastructure?
– How did the Knights and the Islanders resists the onslaught from the Ottoman Empire?
– How long did the construction of the city take?
– Why call the city Valletta?

Fun-filled and informative walks around one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, Valletta, the Capital City of Malta. Walks are focused around the best sights which Valletta has to offer. With difference to other tours, we help you discover and experience our city through the eyes of insiders, to bring to life streets, buildings and some of the 300 monuments adorning the city whilst having loads of fun in the process. The tour ends in St George’s Square, the heart of the city and we’ll provide you with a useful orientation about museums, places to eat out and how to avoid the tourist traps.
Please appreciate that this public tour is not designed to fully satisfy history or architecture buffs’ need for information since 500 years of rich history cannot be compressed in 90 minutes.
